After Registering
Since EPLT uses broadcast email notification as the main mode of communication, please ensure that an email address
is included in your student record so that you receive course information in a timely manner.

Planning to take a course while overseas? It is EPLT policy to courier all exams, therefore, a courier fee
is charged to the student. Please contact EPLT for further information about courier fees and materials.
What to expect?
You receive a welcome email letter from EPLT office with information about:
- Getting online: This will include the URL for the course and other information you may need in order to access your course website.
- Information about the technical requirements for your computer.
Attachments may include: (Re-configure hotmail accounts!)
- A course outline
- A Learning Materials Package (LRN) order form to use when ordering material from the UBC Bookstore.
- Exam information (if applicable)
Texts and Custom Course Materials Packages
You should order your texts and custom course materials packages as soon as possible especially if
you live overseas or in a remote location. Information about the required texts and custom course materials
packages can be found in a number of ways:
- UBC Bookstore website under "Students"
- Download the order form from EPLT's website: http://eplt.educ.ubc.ca Click on Distance Education, subject, course code
- Use the order form that was emailed to you.
- Identify yourself as a Distance Education student.
The Bookstore offers a Fast Start textbook reservation and delivery service for September and January registrations.
To register for this service, contact fastart@interchange.ubc.ca or
visit the UBC Bookstore website.
Online Courses
The course website contains the course outline, expectations for learning, grading structure and an assignment
schedule.
Print Format Courses
The UBC Bookstore now delivers all required course manuals for all Distance Education Courses. For
CNPS 364: Family Education & Consultation, you order your course manual text, and custom course materials packages
through the Bookstore. Included in the package are:
- The course manual (Learning Materials Package - LRN)
- Course Schedule, Letter of Introduction, Communications information, Exam procedures, Assignments, 2 assignment cover sheets, 2 address sheets and 2 window envelopes
- Text(s)
- Custom Course Materials Packages (CCM)
